Ryanair new routes Porto and Faro this Summer
Ryanair announces the reinforcement of the operation for the summer in Porto and Faro, in addition to two new planes for the two airports.
The executive president of the Irish airline came to Lisbon to announce that the new features for the summer of Ryanair in Portugal do not pass through the capital: the operation will be reinforced only in Porto and Faro, with 11 new routes to the North and eight to the South, in addition to of four new planes, two for each of those airports.
It is the "biggest ever program for the summer in Portugal", underlines Michael O'Leary, with an investment of around 400 million euros. But the low-cost airline continues to turn its back on Lisbon "because TAP continues to block slots [time slots] that it does not use and does not intend to use".
As for the new routes announced for the summer, there are now connections between Porto and Stockholm (Sweden), Maastricht (Netherlands), Strasbourg, Nîmes (France), Bristol, Leeds (United Kingdom), Castellon (Spain), Trapani, Turin (Italy), Wroclaw (Poland) and Shannon (Ireland).
In Faro, Ryanair's summer will feature flights to/from Barcelona (Spain), Copenhagen, Aarhus (Denmark), Belfast (Northern Ireland, United Kingdom), Exeter (England, United Kingdom), Frankfurt Hahn (Germany) , Rome Fiumicino (Italy) and Toulouse (France).
Frequency will also be increased on 30 other routes, according to the statement sent to newsrooms in the meantime.
According to the Irish airline, the increase in operations for the summer shows that Ryanair "continues to invest heavily in Portugal", representing a growth of 13% compared to the same period in 2022. passengers transported in fiscal year 2024.
Asked about the impacts of inflation, O'Leary added that Ryanair ticket prices should increase by 5% to 10% this summer, compared to the same period last year, "provided that no more adverse events occur", after of a pandemic and a war in Europe.
